PIPER PA-46-500TP MERIDIAN
Piper Meridian is an all-metal low wing monoplane with retractable landing gear, conventional empennage and minor presence of composite non-structural parts.
The pressurized cabin offers seating for two pilots and four passengers in club arrangement. All leather seats are reclining and equipped with headrest and armrest. Passengers may enjoy individual fresh air outlets and reading lights. A writing table is provided in the middle of the passenger club arrangement. Cabin temperature is electronically controlled using both hot-air heating and air-conditioning.
The conventional mechanical steel cable and pushrod flight control system is aided by elevator and rudder trim systems. While the rudder trim is electrically controlled, the elevator trim is controlled both manually and electrically.
Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-42A turboprop engine’s thermodynamic power is 1029 SHP, but in Meridian it is flat rated to takeoff & continuous rating of 500 SHP up to flight level 23,000 ft (7,000 m).
All metal, variable pitch, feathering and reversing Hartzell propeller is turning at constant 2000 RPM.
Wing fuel tanks can store 644 liters of jet fuel which are supplied to the engine with the help of wing root mounted electric boost pumps. Fuel balancing is provided automatically by these boost pumps. An automatically activated fuel return system is provided to keep fuel in wings within acceptable temperature limits in extremely cold high-altitude environment.
A 28 Volt DC electrical system is powered by a 200A generator or a 130A stand-by alternator. All important appliances and navigation systems are fed thru redundant electrical distribution buses.
Avidyne Entegra electronic flight instrumentation system provides pilots with all the necessary flight and navigational data on three large format displays.
Digital three-axis S-TEC Magic 1500 autopilot steers the aircraft precisely on the planned route either based on terrestrial navigational beacons or based on GPS satellite signals. It can hold desired altitude, climb or descend at a selected vertical speed or indicated airspeed. ILS precision approach may be flown automatically down to the decision height of 200 ft (60 m).
Aircraft is equipped with traffic collision warning system (TCAS), enhanced ground proximity warning system (EGPWS/TAWS), weather radar, storm-scope and digital engine monitoring system (ECTM).
